Job Summary

The Parts Specialist I provides exceptional customer service to city employees by assisting with parts/equipment procurement, inventory control, data entry, and occasional vehicle operation to pick up parts. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to company SOPs and Safety Manual, and effective communication with customers and vendors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service: Provide quality service to city employees, including reviewing requisition forms, answering availability questions, and ensuring correct parts are researched and provided.
  • Parts Procurement: Drive a vehicle to designated locations to purchase/pick up parts, provide company documentation to vendors, and review invoices for accuracy.
  • Data Entry: Assist in generating invoices for customer requisitions and entering vendor receiving documents in the inventory system.
  • Inventory Management: Assist in performing weekly inventory cycle counts and Wall to Wall inventories at site.
  • Other Requirements: Follow established guidelines for vehicle and equipment maintenance, provide 24-hour support during emergencies, and assist with inventory research projects as requested.
Qualifications
  • 1 year computer experience
  • 24-hour availability
  • Valid Drivers License with two years driving experience
  • 1 year experience with auto or heavy duty truck parts
  • Obtain and maintain a forklift license
Physical Requirements

Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Essential Requirements

Driving, Lifting, Reaching, Sitting, Standing, Stooping, Walking

Work Environment

Work is mostly performed in an office setting, however some requirements occur at storerooms and warehouses in the field which may have uncontrolled temperatures and dirt/dust/damp conditions. Travel to site in a vehicle will occur.
