Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Procurement Specialist to join our purchasing team at Smith Turf & Irrigation. As a key member of our corporate office, you will be responsible for ordering products from specific suppliers to replenish stock at our distribution centers and branch locations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create, place, and manage supplier purchase orders to replenish stock in line with established stocking SKUs and inventory turn requirements.
  • Monitor open POs and follow up with suppliers to ensure timely delivery.
  • Review replenishment methods based on supplier freight, sales, and turns, and make recommendations to optimize inventory levels.
  • Ensure accuracy of delivery and pricing information by reviewing supplier data and files.
  • Investigate and resolve receiving and invoicing discrepancies with suppliers and the accounting department.
  • Maintain item integrity by ensuring new parts and substitute parts are loaded correctly.
  • Process and review special orders to ensure adherence to supplier purchase agreements, terms, and pricing.
  • Review branch transfer requests and assist branch teams as needed on stock levels.
  • Provide collaborative guidance, suggestions, and support to the annual planning process with sales on stocking SKUs by location.
  • Support annual supplier program administration.
  • Monitor supplier performance and communicate with suppliers on any changes, issues, or concerns.
  • Handle supplier returns and enforce company purchasing policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in supply chain, purchasing, or inventory management.
  • Proficient in addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
  • Excellent organizational, documentation, and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a busy, fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker, problem solver, doer, with a bias towards action.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and experience with inventory management software systems.
