Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Personal Financial Counselor, PFC to join our team at Magellan Health. As a key member of our organization, you will provide expert financial guidance and support to military service members and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Counseling and Education: Provide one-on-one counseling, group sessions, and workshops to educate service members on personal financial management, budgeting, and money-saving strategies.
  • Program Development and Implementation: Collaborate with installation and military branch Points of Contact (POC) to develop and implement effective financial counseling programs that meet the needs of the installation.
  • Training and Development: Design and deliver training sessions, workshops, and presentations on various financial topics, including financial planning, credit management, and investment strategies.
  • Virtual Counseling and Support: Utilize virtual counseling platforms and electronic modes of communication to provide remote financial counseling services to service members and their families.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Communicate effectively with leadership, colleagues, and clients to share information, provide updates, and address concerns.
  • Quality Improvement and Compliance: Participate in regular quality improvement committees and ensure compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) protocols and regulations.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as finance, accounting, or business administration.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1,000 hours of financial counseling experience, with a strong background in personal finance, budgeting, and money management.
  • Certifications: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) certification.
  • Language Skills: Fluency in English, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
  • Other Requirements: Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation, valid driver's license, and willingness to work outside of traditional office hours as needed.
