Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Development to join our team at the University of Tennessee Foundation, Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development efforts for the College of Arts and Sciences, with a focus on securing philanthropic gifts to support the college's strategic priorities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive development strategy for the College of Arts and Sciences, including identifying, cultivating, and soliciting major gift prospects.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including faculty, staff, alumni, and donors, to advance the college's fundraising goals.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Director of Development and other development staff to ensure alignment with the university's overall development strategy.
  • Manage a portfolio of major gift prospects, including developing and implementing strategies to secure gifts from individuals, corporations, and foundations.
  • Work closely with the college's academic leadership to understand their priorities and develop strategies to support their fundraising goals.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in development, sales, or a related field, with a proven track record of securing major gifts.
  • Strong customer service orientation, with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel on nights and weekends, as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to secure major gifts from individuals, corporations, and foundations.
  • Knowledge of fundraising approaches specific to an academic institution.
  • Experience in pipeline development and management.
