Job Overview

South College is seeking a highly qualified and experienced academic faculty member to join our Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. As a full-time faculty member, you will play a critical role in shaping the educational experience of our students and contributing to the advancement of knowledge in the field of pharmaceutical sciences.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching PharmD students in our 3-year, accelerated pharmacy program, as well as contributing to new knowledge through scholarship and providing service to the School of Pharmacy, South College, and the greater Knoxville community.

We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in pharmacology/medicinal chemistry and associated areas, as well as biological/biomedical sciences with a focus on biochemistry and pathophysiology.

Responsibilities
  • Teach PharmD students in our 3-year, accelerated pharmacy program
  • Contribute to new knowledge through scholarship
  • Provide service to the School of Pharmacy, South College, and the greater Knoxville community
  • Develop and teach elective courses in areas of expertise
  • Utilize ExamSoft or other software to conduct assessments
  • Provide mentorship and advisement for students
  • Communicate teaching and scholarship activities
  • Contribute to new knowledge through scholarship
  • Integrate and enhance collaborations among the clinical sciences and basic sciences
  • Advance the service missions of the School of Pharmacy and South College
Requirements
  • Pharm.D., M.D., or Ph.D. in pharmacology, physiology, toxicology, biochemistry, or related biomedical science field
  • Strong academic credentials in areas of relevance to pharmacy
  • Biomedical/pharmaceutical sciences or pharmacy teaching experience
  • Contribute to new knowledge through scholarship in the individual's field of study or Scholarship of Teaching & Learning (SoTL)
