Position Overview:
As a pivotal member of the healthcare team, the Clinical Nurse Specialist will report directly to the Clinical Director(s) and serve as a key resource in specialty nursing practice. This role encompasses providing expert consultation to staff, patients, and families across various clinical environments.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Act as a clinical expert and consultant, guiding healthcare providers in addressing complex patient needs.
2. Facilitate staff development by coaching on assessment, intervention strategies, and problem-solving for intricate patient care scenarios.
3. Provide ethical and legal guidance to patients, families, and healthcare teams.
4. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to establish, implement, and assess standards of practice within the specialty area.

Educational Initiatives:
1. Identify and respond to the educational needs of healthcare teams and community groups.
2. Design and execute comprehensive educational programs tailored to specific patient demographics in partnership with staff and leadership.

Clinical Expertise:
1. Serve as a clinical resource for nursing staff and healthcare providers, ensuring optimal patient care delivery.
2. Demonstrate advanced skills in diagnosing, treating, and evaluating responses to critical health issues.
3. Collaborate with nursing teams to customize care pathways for complex cases.

Case Management:
1. Support case management processes by developing and refining critical pathways and analyzing deviations from expected care plans.
2. Formulate strategies to address variances, focusing on cost-effectiveness and patient satisfaction.

Quality Improvement:
1. Work with leadership to assess patient and financial outcomes, redesigning processes to enhance quality.
2. Explore methods to reduce length of stay and resource utilization for specific patient populations.

Research and Evidence-Based Practice:
1. Integrate evidence-based findings into nursing practice and standards.
2. Engage in clinical research activities, disseminating findings to enhance practice and educational content.

Qualifications:
1. Master’s Degree in Nursing.
2. Certification in the relevant specialty area.
3. Minimum of three years of nursing experience in the designated specialty.
4. Valid nursing license in the state of practice and Advanced Practice Nursing license.

1. Strong critical thinking abilities to assess educational needs and evaluate staff performance.
2. Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication with diverse hospital personnel.
3. Proficient written and verbal communication skills for educational program delivery.
