Role Responsibilities:
The Behavioral Support Specialist is dedicated to offering direct assistance with a primary focus on behavior management for adolescents and their families within various environments, including homes, educational institutions, and community settings. This role is ideal for an individual who is proactive, collaborative, and adaptable to a flexible work schedule. The specialist will lead groups aimed at helping adolescents develop independent living skills and engage in positive community activities. A solid foundation in behavior management and parent education is essential, along with experience in collaborating with multidisciplinary teams that support families through the Child and Family Team process, aligned with the Arizona Vision/12 principles. Adherence to deadlines, compliance with medical records, and meeting performance standards are crucial. Evening hours may be necessary.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • Preferred BHT level as per AZDHS/BHS guidelines.
  • Experience with at-risk youth is advantageous.
  • A minimum of one year of relevant experience in a similar environment is required.
  • Familiarity with Behavior Management Techniques is essential.
  • Capability to facilitate meetings and groups involving community members, families, and adolescents.
  • Experience with children in DCS care and knowledge of the RBHA children system is preferred.
  • Experience in assisting adolescents with independent living skills and transitioning to adulthood is beneficial.
  • Ability to navigate multiple systems and support families in crisis is necessary.
  • Experience with adolescent substance abuse is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and maintain timely documentation are essential.
  • Must possess a Fingerprint clearance card or be eligible to obtain one.
  • A valid Arizona driver's license with no major infractions in the past three years is required.
  • Regular access to reliable transportation is necessary.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) candidates are encouraged to apply.
  • Applicants must be 21 years of age or older at the time of employment.

Additional Expectations:
Candidates should demonstrate the ability to remain composed in crisis situations, work both independently and collaboratively, recognize personal limitations, and engage positively and empathetically with individuals of all backgrounds. Professional conduct consistent with ethical standards and agency policies is expected. Maintaining positive relationships with internal and external team members, stakeholders, and community partners is essential. If driving is required for agency-related activities, a valid Arizona driver license and appropriate liability insurance are mandatory. Attendance at meetings, training sessions, and agency events outside of regular hours may be required. Compliance with mandatory training is necessary, along with any additional duties assigned by supervisors or management.
