Role Responsibilities:
The Youth Behavioral Support Specialist is dedicated to offering direct assistance with a significant focus on behavior management for adolescents and their families within various environments, including homes, educational institutions, and community settings. This position is ideal for a proactive individual who thrives in a collaborative atmosphere and possesses the flexibility to adapt to varying schedules. The specialist will lead group sessions aimed at guiding adolescents towards independent living and engaging in constructive community activities. A solid foundation in behavior management and parent education is essential, along with the ability to work alongside teams that support families in alignment with established principles.
Key Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
- Preferred BHT level as per state regulations.
- Experience with at-risk youth is advantageous.
- A minimum of one year of relevant experience is required.
- Proficient understanding of behavior management strategies.
- Capability to facilitate meetings and group discussions with families and adolescents.
- Experience with children in care systems is preferred.
- Background in assisting youth with life skills and transitioning to adulthood is beneficial.
- Ability to navigate multiple systems and support families in crisis is crucial.
- Experience with adolescent substance abuse is a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines are required.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and have reliable transportation.
- Fingerprint clearance card eligibility is necessary.
- Bi-lingual candidates (Spanish) are encouraged to apply.
- Applicants must be at least 21 years of age.
Additional Expectations:
- Ability to maintain composure in crisis situations and work both independently and collaboratively.
- Exhibit professional conduct in line with ethical standards and agency policies.
- Foster positive relationships with team members, stakeholders, and community partners.
- Compliance with required training and participation in agency activities outside of regular hours may be necessary.
