About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our team at Goodwin Living. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for overseeing the kitchen operation, ensuring a safe and sanitary work environment, and preparing or directing the preparation of all food in accordance with corporate programs and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with planning regular and modified menus according to established guidelines.
  • Train kitchen staff in food preparation, safe handling, operation of equipment, food safety and sanitation based on Morrison and regulatory standards.
  • Establish and maintain cleaning and maintenance schedules for equipment, storage and work areas.
  • Maintain inventory of food and non-food supplies to stay within established guidelines.
  • Make decisions regarding utilization of leftover food products.
  • Comply with federal, state and local health and sanitation regulations and department sanitation procedures.
  • Adhere to facility confidentiality, HIPAA and patient rights policies.
  • Follow the facility's protocols for Hazardous Materials and Waste Program.
  • Participate in disaster drills as appropriate.
  • Project and practice consistent ownership attributes, providing a high level of customer service at all points of contact.
  • Interview candidates for employment and make hiring and termination decisions after consultation with Human Resources and DS Director.
  • Mentor and assist employees with personal growth, training and job skills.
  • Delegate responsibilities to employees adequately to ensure effective and appropriate accomplishments of tasks.
  • Encourage feedback from, maintain relations with, and monitor commitment of providing highest quality service to customers.

Requirements:

  • High School graduate or equivalent required.
  • Three years food service experience preferred; minimum of one year required.
  • At least three years supervisory experience preferred.
  • Holds current Serve Safe Food Service Sanitation Certificate.
  • Good communication skills required.
