Job Overview:

The role of the Vehicle Systems Test Engineer (VSTE) focuses on the testing and validation engineering components of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) for Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) vehicle programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive test procedures, plans, and reports to facilitate all vehicle testing operations.
  • Conduct vehicle assessments on closed-course tracks to simulate real-world driving conditions and evaluate system functionalities.
  • Identify and specify necessary instrumentation and equipment for test vehicles, performing test drives and collecting relevant data.
  • Collaborate with the Test Architect Team in analyzing system requirements and mapping test cases.
  • Examine data gathered during testing to ascertain compliance with federal and internal standards, providing recommendations to design teams based on analytical findings.
  • Design and implement data analysis scripts, working closely with engineering teams to determine key parameters, crafting robust scripts for analysis, and presenting statistical trends to teams on a regular basis.
  • Prepare detailed test reports to document testing outcomes and communicate any identified issues.
  • Design test routes and coordinate with Vehicle Operators, analyzing data trends and conducting root-cause analysis on detected issues.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in vehicle-level testing with a focus on Autonomous Driving, or at least 3 years in related fields such as Durability/Reliability, Vehicle Dynamics, or Homologation.
  • At least 2 years of experience with test equipment, data acquisition systems, and data analysis.
  • Proficient in automotive communication protocols including CAN/CAN-FD, LIN, and Automotive Ethernet.
  • Strong technical writing skills for creating test procedures, plans, and reports.
  • Familiarity with Vector tools for development and testing purposes.
  • Experience with V-Model Systems Engineering methodologies.
  • Proficient in data analysis using tools such as MATLAB or Python.
  • Basic understanding of Autonomous Driving and ADAS technologies.
  • Experience leading discussions with external stakeholders to present test results and data in a technical manner.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with remote technicians and operators/drivers.
  • Familiarity with NHTSA Levels 2-5 Autonomous Vehicles.
  • Basic knowledge of V-Model Systems Engineering and relevant tools (e.g., Polarion/Doors) to support the product development lifecycle.
  • Experience with JIRA or other project management tools.
  • Proactive attitude with a strong desire to learn and find solutions independently.
  • Ability to investigate issues thoroughly, employing analytical, creative, and collaborative problem-solving skills.

Education:

  • A Master's degree or equivalent in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering is required.
