Position Overview

AECOM is actively seeking a dynamic and skilled Rail Project Coordinator for immediate engagement in the Mid-Atlantic Region. This role is open to candidates from any AECOM office located east of the Mississippi River. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record in design and project oversight, particularly within Class I Railroads.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee engineering, administrative, and financial responsibilities for current General Engineering Contracts with major rail clients.
  • Collaborate with client representatives, project sponsors, and contractors to effectively deliver our service offerings to railroad clients.
  • Organize and conduct civil and structural engineering tasks and field operations with a clearly defined scope.
  • Work closely with Regional Freight Rail Market Sector Leadership and Client Account Managers to execute key growth strategies.
  • Assist in marketing efforts directed at Class I Railroads, significant regional rail shippers, and other railroad stakeholders.
  • Support offices across the Northeast and nationally on railroad-related initiatives as needed.
  • Contribute to the transit and rail business line on various projects.
  • Help prepare design tenders and proposals, and engage in technical activities within workgroups.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of track, structures, geotechnical, signals, mechanical, electrical, environmental, and civil engineers, as well as scientists, to identify and assemble teams for complex freight rail projects.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree plus 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • At least 2 years of experience in the rail industry.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in the freight rail sector and involvement in Public Improvement Projects is preferred.
  • Background in Structural Design is advantageous.
