Deputy Director of Engineering Review

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Director to join our team in the Engineering Review Section of the Division of Bridges. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for managing engineers and overseeing the review of technically complex bridge and retaining wall projects.
Key Responsibilities- Manage engineers in the Engineering Review Section and oversee the review of bridge and retaining wall projects
- Review and perform seismic analysis and seismic calculations for bridges and retaining walls
- Perform complex analysis of bridge load rating calculations in accordance with load rating policies and procedures
- Perform structural analysis for city-owned bridges to ensure their safety against heavy weight trucks and cranes
- Perform field inspections of bridges and retaining walls to assess conditions
- Review construction projects for bridges and retaining walls, including RFI by contractors, conduct field visits to construction sites, and attend construction meetings with Resident Engineer, contractors, and consultants
- Supervise subordinates in technical and administrative matters
- A valid New York State License as a Professional Engineer
- Six (6) years of full-time satisfactory experience in chemical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, or plan examining work, at least two (2) years of which must have been in an executive, managerial, or administrative capacity
- Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form
- Knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, AASHTO Manual for Bridge Evaluation, NYSDOT Bridge Manual, and NYSDOT Bridge Inspection Manual
- Knowledge of computer software
