The City of New York is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Director to join our team in the Department of Transportation. As a key member of our Transportation Planning and Management Division, you will play a critical role in shaping the city's transportation policies and strategies.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage and coordinate environmental reviews under city, state, and federal processes, utilizing the CEQR Technical Manual and other relevant guidelines.
- Supervise staff in reviewing environmental studies, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Oversee the NYC DOT Trip Generation/Mode Choice survey, including supervising consultant teams, reviewing and approving scope of work, and analyzing results.
- Coordinate and approve travel demand factors and assumptions prepared by consultants for environmental studies.
- Conduct traffic operation and safety studies, utilizing analysis tools such as Highway Capacity Software (HCS) and Synchro/SimTraffic.
- Develop and test improvement measures to enhance safety and mobility for all street users, with a focus on bicycle and pedestrian safety.
- Coordinate with private entities, city, state, and federal agencies, and other stakeholders to advance transportation planning and management initiatives.
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four (4) years of full-time experience in city planning, with at least eighteen (18) months in a managerial capacity.
- Equivalent education and/or experience may be considered, with a baccalaureate degree and eighteen (18) months of managerial experience in city planning required.
- Experience in CEQR, SEQR, and NEPA processes.
- Proficiency in HCS, Synchro/SimTraffic, AutoCAD, AutoTurn, and knowledge of traffic simulation models.
- Knowledge of engineering principles, traffic engineering, and traffic environmental impact studies.
