Job Title: Deputy Director, Operations

Job Summary:

The Deputy Director of Operations will assist the Director of Operations in the direction, coordination, and control of operational activities across the System. This includes managing affiliation rosters, budgets, and spending controls, as well as developing and implementing changes and improvements to the affiliation workforce plan.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage affiliation roster, budget, spending controls, contract monitoring
  • Primary report to the CEO on affiliation matters, with reporting to CFO and CMO as needed
  • Develop and implement changes and improvements to affiliation workforce plan
  • Develop and implement faculty practice at Woodhull Hospital
  • Assist with directing, supervising, and coordinating all administrative and operational functions and activities of the healthcare setting
  • Participate in the development, review, and implementation of programs, policies, procedural guidelines, evaluations, and monitoring techniques to ensure the attainment of the System's strategic goals and objectives and compliance with regulatory standards and industry standards
  • Direct the planning, development, and design of the appropriate control mechanisms for organizational program review and evaluation of operational activities
  • Recommend, initiate, and control investigations of operational activities, monitor and audit related activities, and make recommendations for appropriate corrective actions and/or improvements
  • Monitor progress pertaining to the resolution of operational problems and implementation activities to expedite operational improvements for healthcare settings and Central Office programs and projects
  • Work collaboratively with primary stakeholders to develop and implement best practice guidelines and protocols, address operational challenges, and achieve productivity and quality benchmarks
  • Maintain liaison between operational units, healthcare settings, and Central Office support services to ensure effective control of operational activities and expedite implementation of operational improvements
  • Direct the administration and coordination of special programs, as assigned by leadership. Represent the System at meetings with other agencies of the City, State, and Federal government and external organizations
  • Assist in the development of operating budget and ensure operations run within budgetary guidelines. Consistently review department budget and implement cost containment strategies, as needed
  • Conduct and/or participate in meetings, conferences, and seminars affecting operational activities, as required
  • Provide general supervision, including direction, assignment, and evaluation of operating and support staff, and resolution of staff problems
  • Evaluate staff performance and work programs and provide leadership to obtain productivity and efficiency in expediting assigned projects and initiate actions to accomplish objectives
  • Direct the preparation of comprehensive reports relating to operational activities of assigned projects, programs, and initiatives
  • Serve as on-call duty officer for operational issues on nights, weekends, and holidays and conduct day tours
  • Perform other related duties, as directed
Requirements:
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Engineering, Healthcare Specialization, Physical or Social Sciences, or a related discipline; and five (5) years of progressively responsible administrative, managerial, and/or consultative experience; or
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in disciplines listed above; and six (6) years of progressively responsible administrative, managerial, and/or consultative experience; or
  • Satisfactory equivalent combination of training, education, and/or experience. However, all candidates must have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in disciplines listed above
