This role involves overseeing inventory levels and the cost management of procured items. The individual will coordinate logistics for incoming shipments and assist fellow buyers and inventory control personnel. The objective is to source products that align with company standards within designated timelines and budget constraints.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and acquire assigned stock items.
  • Participate in daily inventory discussions.
  • Communicate updates regarding new and discontinued items, as well as changes in product and packaging technologies.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to analyze market conditions and competitive activities, aiding in the formulation of sales and marketing strategies.
  • Maintain cost records in AS400 for stock and fillet items.
  • Design seasonal and annual merchandising initiatives.
  • Develop weekly sales forecasts in conjunction with sales management and procure products to meet stock and inventory needs.
  • Utilize supplier lead times to leverage the company's position in the market.
  • Ensure that transportation carriers adhere to delivery schedules and comply with warehouse receiving protocols.
  • Prepare purchase orders for daily receiving and provide necessary transportation instructions.
  • Respond to sales inquiries regarding research and sourcing of new products.
  • Utilize the Product Request Form effectively.
  • Monitor freight and confirm purchase orders for incoming shipments.
  • Cross-train with buyers and inventory control to provide coverage during absences.
  • Answer incoming calls.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least one year of relevant experience.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution.
