Custodial Operations Specialist

The Facilities Department is committed to delivering exceptional service to a diverse community of faculty, staff, and students. We are seeking applications for a full-time (40 hours per week), year-round Float Custodian. The work schedule typically runs Monday through Friday, from 5:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with the possibility of adjustments based on departmental needs, including rotating on-call responsibilities.


Key Responsibilities:
Under the general supervision of a Custodial Supervisor, the Float Team will be tasked with:

  • Overseeing daily custodial functions across various campus facilities
  • Performing general cleaning and light maintenance tasks
  • Managing snow removal during winter months
  • Setting up for events
  • Conducting carpet and floor maintenance
  • Assisting with bed preparation during summer conferences
  • Executing additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Preferred one year of experience in custodial services
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team, engaging with faculty, staff, and students
  • Exemplary customer service and communication skills, demonstrating integrity at all times
  • Capacity to adhere to established guidelines as outlined in operating manuals, safety data sheets, and safety regulations
  • Proficiency in operating cleaning equipment and sanitizing dispensing units
  • Physical ability to lift heavy items up to 75 pounds with assistance, maintain prolonged standing, work on ladders, and utilize personal protective equipment
  • Experience in general cleaning, maintenance, and floor care is advantageous
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License

Flexible hours and occasional overtime may be necessary, which could include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
