About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Special Inspector to join our team at Atlas Technical Consultants. As a Special Inspector, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and safety of construction materials used in infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain representative samples of construction materials for testing and inspection.
  • Review project plans and specifications to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Perform inspections and testing of construction materials, including rebar, epoxy, concrete, masonry, fireproofing, bolting, asphalt, and other items.
  • Provide accurate test reports and daily diaries to project stakeholders.
  • Track time and supplies for projects worked.
  • Track training hours and maintain documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with project teams and stakeholders.
  • Maintain a professional image and adhere to company policies.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent with strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to work independently.
  • Good general math skills and understanding of physical sciences.
  • Self-motivated and flexible with ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Detail-oriented with ability to multitask.
  • Technical reading, writing, and research skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret project plans and specifications.
Technical Requirements
  • Candidate will be required to pursue and maintain relevant certifications, such as ICC, Firestop, ACI, and WAQTC.
  • General computer skills, including Microsoft Office and project management software.
  • Advanced understanding of construction materials testing and inspection.
  • Basic math and writing skills.
  • Communication skills, including phone and email.
  • Knowledge of current IBC and ACI specification manuals.
  • Possess current ICC certifications in one or more of the following: reinforced concrete, masonry, fireproofing.
  • Possess current ACI qualification in one or more of the following: Field, SCC, Strength.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ACI Field Testing Technician Level 1 certification.
  • Radiation Safety Training and Nuclear Density Gauge Operation certification.
  • Soils (Aggregate and Embankment) Training certification.
  • ICC Reinforced Concrete Special Inspector certification.
  • ICC Structural Masonry Special Inspector certification.
  • ICC Structural Steel Special Inspector certification.
  • ICC Pre-stressed Concrete Special Inspector certification.
  • ICC Spray Applied Fireproofing Inspector Certificate.
Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive hourly rate of $25-$35, depending on qualifications and experience.
