Position Summary:

Reporting directly to the Director of Human Resources, the Lead HR Strategist will provide guidance and support to the HR team in overseeing daily functions, which include employee relations, benefits administration, talent acquisition, and retention strategies. Key Responsibilities:
  • Team Leadership:
    • Manage a team of HR Specialists, ensuring efficient daily operations and exceptional service delivery.
    • Guarantee compliance with labor laws and organizational policies.
    • Oversee recruitment, employee development, and compensation frameworks.
  • Advisory and Support:
    • Provide effective consultation to management and staff to cultivate a positive workplace culture.
    • Assist employees in navigating workplace challenges and transitions.
    • Address inquiries regarding employment policies and professional growth.
  • Performance Oversight:
    • Support management in conducting performance evaluations and improvement initiatives.
    • Identify potential legal risks and address them promptly.
  • Policy Management:
    • Ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws.
    • Advise on policy interpretation and implementation.
    • Administer the compensation structure, ensuring fairness and compliance.
  • Employee Relations:
    • Manage employee grievances and conduct necessary investigations.
    • Provide guidance on disciplinary measures and procedures.
    • Support union-related processes and compliance.
  • Compensation Oversight:
    • Manage job descriptions, evaluations, and salary structures.
    • Analyze compensation trends and recommend adjustments as needed.
  • Representation and Project Involvement:
    • Represent the organization in employment-related claims.
    • Engage in HR initiatives and provide support for various projects.
    • Facilitate the rollout of HR programs, including employee recognition efforts.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience.
  • Preferred HR Professional Certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR).
  • Experience in labor relations within a unionized context is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit sector operations is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and HR management systems.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills with a commitment to confidentiality.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively.
