Join Our Team as an Accounting Manager

Metagenomi is a cutting-edge gene editing company dedicated to developing innovative therapeutics. We're seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join our dynamic Finance team.

About the Role

As an Accounting Manager, you'll play a critical role in our month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close cycle. Your responsibilities will include recording critical journal entries, performing key account reconciliations, and participating in special projects to improve accounting processes and streamline close timelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the design and execution of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including preparing critical journal entries and performing key account reconciliations.
  • Take an active role in special projects focused on improving the quality and efficiency of accounting processes and help to streamline and shorten the close process.
  • Partner with leaders in the Research and Development teams to develop and maintain robust accrued CMO and CRO expense models, especially for quarter-end accruals.
  • Manage the AP Team, which currently consists of two AP Accountants.
  • Support the procure-to-pay process, including approval of requisitions and invoices.
  • Play a leadership role in developing SOX documentation across all areas of responsibility and participate in walkthroughs with the auditors for relevant cycles.
  • Contribute to preparing PBCs for quarterly reviews and year-end audits and responding to auditor questions promptly.
Requirements
  • CPA or finance/accounting degree and at least five years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Public accounting experience and biotech industry experience, preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency or evidence of ability to gain advanced proficiency in NetSuite, Coupa, and FloQast.
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel and Word.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to quickly translate guidance into action and to demonstrate an ability to produce high-quality work with strong attention to detail independently.
  • Highly collaborative, solutions-oriented approach.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, specifically when collaborating with other departments with limited knowledge of accounting.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
