Job Summary:

As a Trailer Maintenance Technician at Estes Express, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and safety of our trailers. This involves performing routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections to prevent equipment failures and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Inspect and diagnose trailer equipment to identify potential issues and recommend repairs
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as lubricating moving parts and replacing worn-out components
  • Conduct safety inspections to ensure compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations and company policies
  • Interpret work orders and technical manuals to determine the necessary repairs and maintenance
  • Repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems to ensure trailer functionality and safety
  • Test repaired equipment to ensure it meets manufacturer specifications and regulatory requirements
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or General Educational Degree (GED) or equivalent
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Minimum of one year of experience in trailer maintenance or a related field, or completion of a trade school program
  • Ability to use hand tools and test equipment
  • Must have own tools
  • Knowledge of general repairs and PM criteria
  • Ability to keep up with changing technology and updates
  • Mechanical ability and interest in electronics and precision equipment
  • Physical ability to work with heavy equipment and in awkward positions
  • Valid CDL and acceptable MVR required if driving on public roads
  • Ability to lift approximately 70 lbs. or more if required by the essential functions of the job
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and listening skills
  • Self-starting and organized
  • Strong work ethic and good problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work any shift, including nights and weekends, in any weather condition
