Job Summary

The Assistant Project Manager provides critical support to Project Managers and Project Engineers in various aspects of project execution, including buyout, project documentation, project information systems, and close-out. This role requires a high level of professionalism, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Documentation: Thoroughly understand project documents, including drawings and addenda, and maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Project Support: Assist Project Managers in evaluating bid packages, analyzing vendor bids, and creating commitments to Subcontractors and Suppliers, ensuring compliance with procurement policies and contract terms.
  • Cost Management: Assist Project Managers with accurate cost projections and monitor project expenses to ensure budget adherence.
  • Change Order Management: Solicit and evaluate change order requests and pricing from vendors, and administer document control for all project documentation.
  • Project Meetings: Document project meetings and distribute meeting minutes to the Project Team.
  • Scheduling: Monitor, maintain, and update project timelines and develop look-ahead schedule updates under the direction of Project Managers.
  • Safety and Quality: Promote jobsite safety and actively participate in safety meetings, job walks, and other safety-specific tasks. Also, promote and participate in Quality Management Systems as directed by Project Managers.
  • Governmental Agencies: Coordinate with all governmental agencies from permitting processes through Certificate of Occupancy.
  • Punch List Management: Manage the Punch List process from creation to completion.
  • Project Closeout: Assist Project Managers in timely closeout of commitments and project documents.
Requirements
  • Education: A 4-year college degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, or a similar program is preferred.
  • Experience: Career experience must include at least 3 years of Project Engineering in commercial construction.
  • Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to speak before groups of people, OSHA 10-hour training, Microsoft Office suite, Sage Estimating, Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate, scheduling software, Prolog Manager, and ability to maintain positive relationships with clients, designers, and vendors.
  • Physical Demands: Travel overnight as projects or corporate responsibilities require, continuously sit, stand, or walk, bend, squat, climb stairs or ladders, and lift frequently, occasionally up to 25 pounds.
