Position Overview:

The Inclusive Education Specialist, under the guidance of the Special Education Program Administrator, is dedicated to delivering exceptional educational services to students with diverse needs, spanning from kindergarten through grade 12. This role emphasizes collaboration in the development and execution of tailored educational programs, including specialized instruction and support for students with various learning, emotional, and physical challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops individualized education plans in partnership with parents and educational team members.
  • Facilitates learning for students with a broad spectrum of disabilities.
  • Creates instructional strategies that align with the general education curriculum for both individual and small group settings.
  • Collaborates with parents, administrators, and specialists to formulate educational strategies that foster students' academic, physical, and social growth.
  • Prepares classroom materials and environments conducive to learning.
  • Acts as the primary coordinator for the implementation of individualized education programs (IEPs) alongside general education staff.
  • Monitors and assesses student progress, contributing to the review and adjustment of IEPs as necessary.
  • Keeps precise records of student performance and progress.
  • Mentors and guides teaching assistants who support students with disabilities.
  • Assists students in transitioning between grades and acquiring essential life skills.
  • Evaluates students' skills and educational requirements while tracking their performance.
  • Engages in discussions regarding student progress with other educators.
  • Maintains open communication to foster positive relationships with students and their families.
  • Adheres to all relevant district policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution is preferred.
  • Valid state teaching certification as mandated by state and district regulations.
  • Preferred experience of at least one year in an educational setting.
  • Standard Teacher Certification in Elementary, Secondary, or Special Education is preferred.
  • Endorsement as a Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) is preferred.
  • Complies with all applicable professional standards and practices.
  • Participation in Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
  • Current CPR certification if applicable.
  • Completion of TB Questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray if applicable.
  • Current health certificate as per contract or state regulations.
  • Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Successful completion of new hire training as required.
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
  • Strong communication skills, with proficiency in the English language required.
  • Proficiency in computer skills is required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
