Your Contributions in this Role:
The individual selected for the Production Engineering Specialist position will play a key role in supporting essential products within 3M's building and construction sectors.

This role encompasses the entire lifecycle of a product, from raw materials to finished goods, and focuses on achieving excellence in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), Quality, Service, and Cost performance.


As a Production Engineering Specialist, you will be empowered to explore your creativity and collaborate with some of the most talented and diverse professionals globally.


Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and implement initiatives to lower unit costs
- Develop and execute strategies to enhance quality and productivity
- Optimize manufacturing workflows and provide technical assistance to production teams
- Establish and uphold Production Standards
- Engage in the development of new products and processes to drive business growth and meet productivity objectives, including scale-up, equipment, and process validation
- Apply Lean/Six Sigma methodologies to streamline processes and minimize waste
- Facilitate root cause analysis and resolution of production and product issues
- Monitor and enhance processes using Statistical Process Control (SPC)
- Promote Environmental, Health, and Safety improvements through leadership in EHS initiatives and Process Hazard Management
- Actively participate in EHS Committees and Programs
- Develop Standard Work Procedures to support process enhancements and train staff as necessary to improve operations

Qualifications:
To excel in this role, 3M requires the following qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant science or engineering field (must be completed and verified prior to employment)
- Prior engineering and/or manufacturing experience (internships or co-op experiences are applicable) in any sector

Additional qualifications that may enhance your success in this role include:
- Proven ability to contribute to and lead cross-functional teams
- Experience leading DMAIC Six Sigma projects – Green Belt or Black Belt Certification preferred
- Familiarity with developing and implementing Lean Systems and Standard Work
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in Engineering or Manufacturing
- Strong analytical and statistical capabilities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
