Job Summary and Purpose

We are seeking a highly skilled Business Development Executive to join our team at Conner Insurance. The successful candidate will be responsible for building and expanding our client base through both the Employee Benefits and Commercial markets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Generate minimum revenue production of $100,000 annually
  • Network within identified industry groups to develop business relationships
  • Calendar all networking and marketing events
  • Establish 2 meetings a month with networking partners
  • Post unique content 2x week on LinkedIn and other social media sites
  • Make 20 outbound calls a week to prospective clients
  • Send 20 outbound emails a week to prospective clients
  • Make 2 videos, drops, or handwritten letters per week
  • Update CRM database consistently and frequently with prospecting activity
  • Build and maintain a prospect pipeline that meets objectives
  • Establish meaningful relationships with clients
  • Continually develop sales knowledge and techniques
  • Manage existing sales pipeline and develop new business opportunities
  • Generate new leads, identify and contact decision-makers
  • Screen potential business opportunities, lead and facilitate sales meetings
  • Implement established outbound sales and business development strategy
  • Communicate value proposition through proposals, presentations, and new business materials
  • Identify trends and customer needs, building a short/medium/long-term sales pipeline
  • Assist in the coordination and implementation of marketing strategies and initiatives
  • Responsible for inviting, communicating, and maximizing attendance at networking, educational events
  • Maintain and share professional knowledge through education, networking, events, and presentations
  • Timely and accurately update Salesforce with prospect information and communication
  • Update weekly internal Master Sales Sheet
Customer Relationship Management
  • Responsible for maintaining relationship with the client
  • Act as liaison between client, internal team, and insurance companies/partners
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships to independently resolve service problems
  • Communicate effectively across various levels of an organization
  • Maintain relationship with clients
  • Respond to client needs in a timely, professional, helpful, and courteous manner
  • Strive to meet service standards in all circumstances
  • Follow up with clients to ensure needs have been met
  • Identify opportunities to create partnerships
  • Maintain confidential information
Insurance Industry Knowledge
  • Demonstrate knowledge and ability of the industry, including competitive and customer trends
  • Strategically direct clients and solve situations
  • Proficient in Commercial Insurance marketplace (Property, Liability, Auto, Workers' Compensation) and Employee Benefits self-funded and fully insured marketplace
  • Knowledge of medical, dental, vision, life, and disability offerings
  • Objectively critique the competition (strengths, weaknesses) and seek opportunities for business development
  • Continually develop industry knowledge by attending trade shows, seminars, conferences, etc.
  • Identify current industry trends and explain industry trends to clients
  • Develop knowledge of related industries and their impact on own industry
Team Leadership
  • Work with strong, highly engaged, efficient teams
  • Work with advisors, account executives, and account managers efficiently, respectfully, and effectively
  • Establish priorities and timelines
  • Work with marketing team to deliver materials, promote events, and communicate value proposition
  • Advocate and help facilitate communication between internal team
  • Address gaps in team expertise
  • Show up on time and well-groomed
  • Delegate authority to match responsibility, holding staff accountable for agreed-upon commitments
  • Delegate responsibility rather than taking charge or micro-managing when staff have the capability
Additional Duties

Attend meetings, seminars, and programs to learn about new products and services, learn new skills, and receive technical assistance in developing new customers.
