Job Summary

We are seeking a seasoned professional to lead our data governance efforts as a Data Governance Strategist. This role will be responsible for developing and implementing an integrated roadmap for all aspects of data governance, ensuring data is secure, private, accurate, available, and usable.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain data governance policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations.
  • Deploy technologies to support data governance, providing updates on policy changes and ensuring data integrity.
  • Collaborate with business units to harmonize data in systems, establishing and maintaining data governance policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Conduct audits to ensure policies, procedures, and metrics are in place for maintaining and improving the program.
  • Align data governance policy with the overall goals of the business strategy, driving change in the organization to maximize the value of its data.
  • Operate at a group/enterprise-wide level, serving as a senior specialist resource across BMO, influencing how teams/groups work together.
  • Apply expertise and think creatively to address unique or ambiguous situations and find solutions to multiple, interdependent, complex problems.
  • Communicate abstract concepts in simple terms, fostering strong internal and external networks and working with and across multiple teams to achieve business objectives.
  • Anticipate trends and respond by implementing appropriate changes, broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications
  • Advanced level of proficiency in information and data strategy, building and managing relationships, and managing change.
  • Expert level of proficiency in privacy governance technology enablement, data privacy, enterprise data management, ontology design, master data management, data governance, IT standards and governance, data integrity, data quality, metadata management, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, influence skills, collaboration and team skills, and data-driven decision making.
  • Typically 9+ years of relevant experience and a post-secondary degree in a related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Seasoned expert with extensive industry knowledge and a technical leader viewed as a thought leader for innovation.
