Job Overview

The Facilities Maintenance Supervisor will:

· Oversee a comprehensive maintenance (mechanical and electrical) strategy aimed at fostering continuous enhancement, while reducing operational expenses and ensuring optimal reliability of machinery.

· Create and uphold essential performance metrics, establishing a structured and methodical approach for predictive and ongoing maintenance, repair, and installation of production and facility apparatus.

· Advise on the appropriate timing for equipment replacement or redesign based on lifecycle costs, gathering necessary data for design advancements.

· Act as a vital resource in collaborating with and guiding engineering, automation requirements, and technological upgrades.

· Adopt a proactive stance towards continuous improvement, safety, and environmental considerations.

· Lead and mentor a team, comprising 4 direct reports.

· Reduce unplanned downtime and manage the availability of critical spare parts.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

· Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.

· Over five years of experience managing a medium to large multi-craft maintenance operation in a heavy industrial environment, ideally within a Lean or Six Sigma framework.

· Proven experience in developing and maintaining departmental systems, operating costs, and project management.

· Hands-on experience in scheduling maintenance operations and preventive maintenance programs.

· Demonstrated ability to build and develop teams.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with all organizational levels.

· Technical expertise in manufacturing processes and methods, including flow, layout, assembly, and production equipment, with a preference for strong electrical (PLCs) and mechanical experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

· Solid background in electrical/mechanical systems and automation engineering.

· Experience in managing major capital projects.

· Familiarity with adherence to IOS standards.

· Experience in steel plant or heavy industrial maintenance.

· Knowledgeable in machine repair, operation (MRO), and spare parts management best practices.

· Familiar with optimal practices in maintenance planning and scheduling.

· Strong understanding of predictive technologies.

· Trained in Continuous Improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma or Lean.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Develop and maintain key performance indicators to assess cost control effectiveness.

· Establish a systematic approach to operational needs, equipment, and training.

· Plan and oversee small and large capital projects, ensuring timely completion, meeting performance expectations, and staying within budget.

· Manage and coordinate the installation of new equipment or upgrades to existing systems, including the collaboration with external contractors.

· Align all maintenance activities with in-house departments to ensure customer needs (Operations & Engineering) are met.

· Focus on Continuous Improvement initiatives related to processes, equipment, and costs.
