Position Overview:

Facilities Maintenance Specialist

Location: Minneapolis Region

Employment Type: Non-Exempt - 40 hours per week; Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM; hours may vary.

The Facilities Maintenance Specialist will be tasked with ensuring that all assigned company-operated facilities meet established standards, thereby projecting a positive brand image to both customers and employees. This role encompasses maintaining the highest value of all properties under your care. You will engage in hands-on maintenance of facilities, equipment, and grounds for restaurants, offices, warehouses, and other related properties as directed by your supervisor.

Key Qualifications:

  • Two-year Technical degree or equivalent experience in facility maintenance.
  • EPA Certification types I & II for HVAC&R, or the ability to obtain certification within six months.
  • Preferred Knowledge:
    • Commercial property maintenance and management.
    • Understanding of building maintenance procedures and practices.
    • Familiarity with building equipment, including electrical, plumbing, and kitchen systems.
    • Experience in facilities management for various types of buildings.
    • Knowledge of building codes and standards.
    • Awareness of OSHA standards for general industry.
    • Understanding of Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) procedures.
  • Ability to make informed decisions regarding repairs or replacements based on troubleshooting skills while adhering to deadlines.
  • Capability to handle after-hours (24/7) emergency calls with limited resources.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with team members and external providers.
  • Mechanical aptitude and proficiency with various hand tools; welding experience is a plus.
  • Physical ability to climb ladders, work extended hours, and endure adverse weather conditions.
  • Capacity to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and appropriate automobile insurance.
  • Commitment to safety protocols and proper tool usage.
  • Willingness to travel to different locations as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform day-to-day maintenance services for assigned buildings, grounds, and equipment.
  • Utilize technical skills to troubleshoot facility maintenance issues.
  • Complete electronic work orders and communicate effectively with internal customers and supervisors.
  • Respond to customer needs to ensure proper maintenance of equipment and facilities.
  • Manage invoices and purchases related to facility maintenance for accurate record-keeping.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company procedures, including environmental record-keeping.
  • Adhere to inventory procedures for parts and supplies in the Service Department.
  • Assist in training team members under the guidance of the Facilities Supervisor/Service & Facilities Manager.
