Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Buyer to join our team at IDEX. As a Strategic Buyer, you will be responsible for identifying material and production requirements, coordinating procurement activities, and managing supplier relationships. This is a critical role that requires strong negotiation and communication skills, as well as the ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain inventory levels to support on-time delivery and cost goals
  • Place orders for raw materials and components with established or newly approved suppliers
  • Contact suppliers to resolve issues related to expedites, quality, and delivery
  • Own the SIOP/Demand Planning process, particularly Supply Planning
  • Review MRP to identify production requirements and take appropriate action
  • Track supplier delivery to ensure on-time delivery of key raw materials and components
  • Identify and input safety stock into MRP system based on run rate, forecasts, supplier lead time, and supplier performance
  • Input purchase orders into MRP system and review for accuracy
  • Maintain accurate supplier lead times and negotiate inventory with suppliers
  • Provide supplier communication to resolve issues with purchase orders and invoices
  • Interact with Receiving Inspection regarding non-conforming parts and process returns
  • Research global suppliers to find optimal suppliers and identify cost reduction opportunities
  • Manage global and domestic supplier relationships
  • Optimize inbound freight and logistic activities to ensure economical planning
  • Provide feedback on engineering change requests and ensure communication with affected suppliers
  • Ability to travel to suppliers, both internationally and domestically, as required
Requirements
  • BA/BS degree in business or engineering field
  • 3+ years of experience in buying, preferably in a manufacturing setting
  • Experience in purchasing low volume, high precision, engineered commodities preferred
  • C.P.M. or A.P.P. certification desired
  • Experience in MRP Systems desirable (JDE preferred)
  • Experience with Global Supply Chain Management
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, and Outlook

Physical Environment and Environmental Factors
  • Approximately 15% of the time will be spent on the manufacturing floor
  • Lifting requirements are generally less than 25 lbs
  • Lifting could occasionally reach the company maximum of 40 lbs
Total Rewards

The compensation range for this position is $57,000.00 to $86,900.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for a performance-based bonus plan.
