Position Summary

As a key member of the Capital Markets Pricing and Valuation team, you will play a vital role in assisting with the valuation of Fannie Mae's Asset and Liability portfolios. This will involve leveraging your financial industry expertise, applying mathematical and fixed income models to business or financial data, and utilizing advanced tools and techniques such as SQL, Python, and R. Your contributions will enable the team to deliver market valuations to internal stakeholders, implement strategic initiatives, analyze business performance, address business inquiries, and support informed decision-making.

The Financial Engineering Pricing Associate position will empower you to make a significant impact through the following responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the team to develop cash flow models, pricing strategies, and valuation methodologies to support Fannie Mae's fixed-income portfolios and new business ventures.
  • Engage in discussions regarding market trends and fixed income concepts with both internal and external market participants, including Trade Desk, Risk Groups, and third-party entities.
  • Perform daily fair-value pricing for the Company's loans, securities, debt, and derivative portfolio, ensuring accurate reporting for Trade Desks, Risk Management, and Financial Reporting.
  • Investigate market activities and risk factors that may influence portfolio pricing.
  • Implement pricing methodologies and strategies to align pricing with the current market landscape and mitigate operational risks.
  • Document and efficiently report on the processing or analysis of substantial data sets using advanced financial engineering tools and techniques.
  • Contribute to financial analysis or forecasting, which may encompass scenario or sensitivity analysis, stress testing, or attribution analysis.
  • Participate in executing models and interpreting results, assisting in translating analytical outcomes into clear conclusions for stakeholders.
  • Support model developers in evaluating new models, recommending adjustments to existing models, or analyzing model performance data.
  • Conduct data and systems analysis, validation, and regression testing.
Qualifications

Experience Requirements
Minimum Required Experience:
1-2 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • Experience in fixed income markets from trading, portfolio management, securities valuation, or research.
  • Strong interest in pursuing CFA, CPA, FRM, or CTP designations.
  • Basic understanding of MBS and financial markets.
  • Familiarity with fixed income analytics (DCFs, OAS, Duration/Convexity, spreads/Discount Margins).
  • Ability to discuss financial concepts with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Experience with Bloomberg, Intex, and other valuation tools is a plus.
  • Experience with SQL is advantageous.
  • Capability to work independently in developing market research and analytics.

Expectations: Meeting the needs of the team and the organization may require occasional extended hours, including weekends and holidays, to fulfill production deadlines.
