The primary responsibility of this position involves supporting various accounting and bookkeeping initiatives within the Finance Department at Martek. This is a temporary role with a focus on contributing to the overall efficiency of the accounting processes.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable tasks.
  • Provide bookkeeping assistance for Martek and its affiliated entities.
  • Help manage corporate credit card accounts.
  • Support the preparation of various financial reports.
  • Contribute to month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Assist in the implementation and adherence to accounting policies and procedures.
  • Support payroll functions and act as a backup for the Payroll Accountant.
  • Maintain organization within the accounting team and its practices.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should possess a U.S.-based bachelor's degree in Accounting, along with prior internship experience in accounting. A minimum of one year in a related accounting role is preferred.

Note: Candidates without an accounting degree will not be considered.

  • Demonstrated initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines.
  • Integrity and discretion in handling sensitive information.
  • Experience with QuickBooks is advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced knowledge of MS Excel.
