Key Responsibilities and Qualifications

As an Advanced Pharmacy Technician, your role will involve assisting pharmacists in the preparation and distribution of medications, managing the drug inventory, and maintaining patient records. You will adhere to patient-specific care standards and service excellence protocols to ensure optimal patient satisfaction.

  • Accurately prepare sterile products for pharmacist verification.
  • Maintain computer patient profiles by entering medication orders and relevant information.
  • Prepare and label medications for final pharmacist check and dispensing.
  • Deliver medications and provide distribution services while monitoring quality for patient care.
  • Generate computer reports and maintain documentation.
  • Actively engage in departmental quality improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with medication and supply purchasing, inventory control, and distribution in accordance with established policies.
  • Support the orientation and training of new staff in all relevant areas, including computer order entry and sterile product preparation.
  • Participate in process improvement teams and contribute suggestions for enhancing service quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Assist in preparing outpatient prescriptions as necessary.
Qualifications Required

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience

  • A minimum of 6 months of experience as a Pharmacy Technician at South Austin Medical Center or 12 months of hospital experience in a facility with at least 200 beds.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) Pharmacy Technician Registration or TSBP Pharmacy Intern License.
  • Sterile Products (IV) Certification through the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) within three months of hire.
