Position Overview

The Behavior Intervention Specialist plays a crucial role in the realm of applied behavioral analysis (ABA), working under the guidance of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to assist individuals in meeting their daily needs.

  • Implement individualized behavior intervention plans and strategies as developed by the BCBA to meet specific behavioral objectives.
  • Provide direct, one-on-one behavioral support to individuals in various environments, including home and community settings.
  • Accurately gather and document data on individual behavior and progress during sessions.
  • Collaborate with the ABA team to ensure consistency and effectiveness in strategy implementation.
  • Utilize behavior analysis techniques to teach and reinforce adaptive, communication, and social skills.
  • Manage challenging behaviors in a professional and therapeutic manner, adhering to agency policies.
  • Consult with families and other agency personnel as needed.
  • Participate in and present in-service training programs as assigned.
  • Engage with all healthcare personnel in individualized care planning.
  • Support individuals and their families in home programs and protocols alongside the BCBA/BCaBA.
  • Maintain confidentiality and safeguard all health-related information of individuals supported.
  • Promptly report any incidents, variances, or complaints to the BCBA/BCaBA.
  • Adhere to agency standards and consistently interpret and perform all assigned responsibilities.
  • Report any incomplete work assignments to the BCBA.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Registered Behavioral Technician Certificate or the ability to obtain within three (3) months of hire.
Required Skills/Abilities & Qualifications
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and perform well in a fast-paced (occasionally stressful) environment.
  • Valid driver's license and auto insurance (personal vehicle use may be required).
  • Acceptable background checks.
Physical Requirements
  • Able to stand, walk, and sit for four (4) hours at a time.
  • Repetitive bending and reaching for up to two (2) hours a day.
  • Able to lift 25 pounds from floor to waist.
