Role Summary

The Behavioral Support Technician plays a crucial role in the field of applied behavioral analysis (ABA), working under the guidance of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to assist individuals in meeting their daily requirements.

  • Implements tailored behavior intervention strategies developed by the BCBA to achieve specific behavioral objectives.
  • Provides direct, individualized behavioral support to clients in various environments, including residential and community settings.
  • Accurately gathers and documents data regarding client behavior and progress during sessions.
  • Collaborates with the ABA team to ensure consistency and effectiveness in the application of strategies.
  • Utilizes behavior analysis techniques to teach and reinforce adaptive, communication, and social skills.
  • Addresses challenging behaviors in a professional and therapeutic manner, adhering to agency policies.
  • Consults with families and other agency staff as needed.
  • Participates in training programs and may present training sessions as assigned.
  • Engages with other healthcare professionals in the development of individualized care plans.
  • Supports clients and their families in home programs and protocols alongside the BCBA/BCaBA.
  • Maintains confidentiality and protects all health-related information of clients.
  • Reports any incidents, variances, or complaints to the BCBA/BCaBA immediately.
  • Adheres to agency standards and consistently interprets and executes all assigned responsibilities.
  • Communicates any incomplete work assignments to the BCBA.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Registered Behavioral Technician Certification or ability to obtain within three months of hire.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license and auto insurance (personal vehicle may be required).
  • Acceptable background checks.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
  • Repetitive bending and reaching for up to two hours daily.
  • Able to lift up to 25 pounds from floor to waist.
