Position Overview

The Behavior Intervention Specialist is responsible for delivering support in the domain of applied behavioral analysis (ABA) and operates under the guidance of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to assist individuals with their everyday requirements.

  • Implements and adheres to personalized behavior intervention strategies and plans developed by the BCBA to meet specific behavioral objectives.
  • Provides direct, individualized behavioral assistance to individuals in various environments, including residential and community settings.
  • Accurately gathers and documents data regarding the behavior and progress of individuals during sessions.
  • Collaborates with the ABA team to ensure uniformity and effectiveness in the execution of strategies.
  • Employs behavior analysis methodologies to instruct and reinforce adaptive, communication, and social skills.
  • Manages challenging behaviors in a professional and therapeutic manner, adhering to agency protocols.
  • Consults with families and other agency staff as needed.
  • Engages in training programs and delivers training sessions as required.
  • Participates with other healthcare professionals in personalized care planning.
  • Alongside the BCBA/BCaBA, assists individuals and their families in home-based programs and protocols.
  • Maintains confidentiality and protects all health-related information of individuals.
  • Reports any incidents, variances, or complaints to the BCBA/BCaBA immediately.
  • Complies with agency standards and consistently interprets and executes all assigned duties.
  • Communicates any unfinished work assignments to the BCBA.
  • Performs additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Registered Behavioral Technician Certificate or ability to obtain within three (3) months of employment.
Required Skills/Abilities & Qualifications
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and perform effectively in a fast-paced (occasionally stressful) environment.
  • Valid driver's license and auto insurance (use of personal vehicle may be required).
  • Acceptable background checks.
Physical Requirements
  • Able to stand, walk, and sit for four (4) hours at a time.
  • Repetitive bending and reaching for up to two (2) hours daily.
  • Able to lift 25 pounds from floor to waist.
