Position Overview

MELE Associates is seeking a highly skilled Business Intelligence Analyst with over 5 years of expertise in utilizing Cognos Analytics. The successful candidate will possess exceptional communication abilities and a comprehensive understanding of business operations across key areas such as Finance, Human Resources, and Contracts.

The Lead Business Intelligence Analyst will play a pivotal role in the development and management of reports, alerts, and visualizations using IBM Cognos Analytics software. This position requires collaboration with supervisors, subject matter experts, and various management levels within the organization. A significant portion of the role will focus on validating report accuracy, addressing discrepancies, and ensuring that all business requirements are fulfilled with valid assumptions for both historical and prospective data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to established protocols for generating reports and alerts from multiple databases, including accounting and HR systems.
  • Engage closely with business stakeholders to gather requirements and analyze data for effective reporting.
  • Implement best practices in Report Studio for report development and utilize Event Studio for workflow notifications.
  • Efficiently join queries from diverse data sources.
  • Leverage customer support and online resources for troubleshooting report-related issues.
  • Uphold high ethical standards in managing sensitive and confidential information.
  • Provide ad hoc data queries for departmental leaders and executives.
  • Assist in resolving functional and data security challenges.
  • Exhibit creative problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to exploring enhancements in business intelligence tools.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Cognos Analytics.
  • Strong analytical and logical reasoning capabilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Thorough understanding of SQL and database structures (Oracle or SQL Server).
  • Experience with Cognos Framework Manager for framework model development.
  • Extensive knowledge of Cognos Report Studio and Event Studio.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and the capacity to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with UKG Pro for Human Capital Management and Deltek's Costpoint ERP.
  • Experience in creating Data Modules and Dashboards within Cognos Analytics.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to mentor junior analysts in business intelligence practices.
