The Lead Business Systems Analyst will play a crucial role in overseeing the effects of modifications in software and operational workflows on our organizational systems. This position entails the development and upkeep of Business Intelligence (BI) reports, alerts, and visual representations for dashboards utilizing IBM Cognos Analytics software. The individual will collaborate with their supervisor, subject matter experts, and various management levels across different functional areas within the organization. A significant portion of the responsibilities will involve validating the precision of BI outputs against existing reports, addressing inconsistencies, and ensuring compliance with all business requirements and report assumptions for both historical and prospective data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage closely with business stakeholders across departments to comprehend requirements and analyze data for actionable insights and report functionality.
  • Adhere to established protocols for generating BI reports and alerts from one or more databases, including accounting, timekeeping, cost planning, and HR/Payroll.
  • Implement recognized best practices in Cognos Report Studio to create reports and Event Studio agents for workflow notifications and alerts.
  • Effectively join queries that extract data from various data sources.
  • Exhibit creative problem-solving skills, utilizing customer support and online resources for troubleshooting applications, database integrations, and BI reports and alerts.
  • Uphold high ethical standards in the management of sensitive and confidential information.
  • Provide Ad Hoc data queries for department managers, program managers, and executives.
  • Assist in resolving functional and data-level security challenges.
  • Demonstrate a proactive approach to exploring continuous improvements and new functionalities in our business systems and BI software.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher with over 7 years of experience supporting a major ERP system and Cognos Analytics software (specifically with Report Studio and Event Studio).
  • Strong grasp of essential business concepts and terminology relevant to functional areas such as accounting, human resources, and contracts.
  • Exceptional analytical and logical reasoning abilities, with a proven capacity to think innovatively and maintain meticulous attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of accounting and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Understanding of Structured Query Language (SQL) and database objects (Oracle or SQL Server).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of collaborating effectively within a team and with senior management.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience with UKG Pro for Human Capital Management and Deltek Costpoint ERP for various functional areas (including familiarity with their respective database structures).
  • Experience with IBM Cognos Framework Manager for developing framework models.
  • Experience in creating Data Modules and Dashboards in Cognos Analytics.
  • Ability to mentor junior BI analysts.
Compensation:
  • Compensation is determined based on several factors, including external market data, internal equity, and the candidate's relevant knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
