Job Overview

The North Weld County Water District is currently looking for a dedicated Pump Station Operations Specialist. Position Responsibilities

The primary duties of this role include:

  • Conducting routine maintenance on pump station equipment within a potable water distribution framework.
  • Assessing equipment performance and pinpointing areas requiring attention.
  • Managing inventory levels and ensuring a sufficient supply of replacement components.
  • Executing general maintenance tasks across pump stations, including upkeep of facilities and grounds.
Key Duties

  • Operate designated pumping stations, ensuring proper system functionality and addressing any irregularities.
  • Perform essential maintenance tasks such as filter cleaning, lubrication, and pump packing gland adjustments.
  • Maintain comprehensive logs and records of pump station operations and maintenance activities.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues, coordinating repairs or engaging external contractors when necessary.
  • Utilize SCADA systems to monitor and respond to emergencies and alarms at pump stations.
  • Oversee emergency generators, ensuring adherence to maintenance schedules and operational readiness.
  • Maintain shop equipment and ensure cleanliness of assigned work vehicles.
  • Be available for emergency callbacks and on-call duties as required.
  • Strategically plan and implement pressure zone operations and interactions.
  • Perform additional related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • High school diploma or GED, with a minimum of three years of experience in pump station operations and maintenance within a distribution system, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Possession of a valid Colorado Driver's License; a Colorado Class A CDL with appropriate endorsements is preferred.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check, driving record check, and drug screening.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Capacity to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
Knowledge and Skills

Candidates should possess knowledge of:

  • District policies, rules, and regulations pertinent to the role.
  • Principles and practices related to the operation and maintenance of distribution pump station facilities.
  • Installation, programming, testing, and repair of electrical systems.
  • Tools and techniques used in pump station maintenance.
  • Operating principles of valves, pumps, motors, and water systems.
  • Regulatory standards for potable water distribution.
  • Safe work practices and public relations techniques.
  • Proficiency in computer systems and software, including Microsoft Office Suite.
Physical Requirements

The physical demands of this position include:

  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit as needed throughout the workday, with approximately 90% of time spent outdoors.
  • Frequent physical activities such as bending, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Visual acuity for reading manuals and reports, and auditory ability for effective communication.
Work Environment

This role typically involves working outdoors near mechanical equipment, with exposure to varying weather conditions. The noise level may range from moderate to loud, and occasional overtime or irregular hours may be necessary.
