We are currently seeking a Product Development Manager to spearhead the creation of innovative products, expand existing brands and assortments, and suggest new brand introductions and category enhancements informed by market insights. This pivotal role is essential to our overall success. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for product development, coupled with strategic and creative thinking abilities, and a proven track record of launching successful products in Specialty Retail and E-commerce environments. We offer a flexible hybrid work model, allowing for remote work up to two days a week following the completion of training.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, develop, analyze, and oversee products within designated brands and categories.
  • Stay attuned to market and consumer trends through store visits, online research, and catalog assessments.
  • Guide the product life cycle from inception to phase-out rationalization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to propose packaging and marketing materials for new product launches.
  • Engage with internal and external designers, engineers, and toolmakers to ensure that newly developed products meet quality control standards.
  • Supervise the Product Coordinator to guarantee precise item setup documentation and timely delivery.
  • Source domestic and international manufacturers for new product lines.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of all business elements, including supply chain, design, sales, merchandising, and distribution.
  • Partner with the Quality Control manager to ensure compliance with customer regulatory requirements and testing necessary for market introduction, adhering to both US and global standards.
  • Effectively communicate product features and benefits to sales teams for impactful marketing campaigns and collateral.
  • Develop annual product budgets aligned with revenue and profit objectives.
  • Create strategic growth plans for product lines on an annual basis.
  • Address manufacturing challenges with innovative solutions.
  • Work alongside Sales to prepare customer product presentations and participate in customer meetings, both virtual and in-person.

Qualifications:

  • A genuine passion for product innovation.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in product development.
  • At least 5 years of experience in international sourcing.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a strong focus on accuracy.
  • Able to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and shifting priorities effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong strategic thinking and decision-making capabilities.
  • Experience in price negotiation and problem-solving.
