POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Senior Procurement Specialist is tasked with spearheading the sourcing initiatives for new product development and managing the resourcing project pipeline.

This role involves overseeing multiple projects to ensure that new product development timelines and key milestones are achieved, as well as engaging in negotiations with suppliers to fulfill quality, pricing, delivery, and service expectations while keeping team members and stakeholders informed of progress.

This position collaborates across departments to assess suppliers and apply negotiation and purchasing strategies to secure the best outcomes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary Functions include:
Providing strategic recommendations and insights to leadership for the planning and procurement of various sourcing and resourcing initiatives.

Engaging in supplier evaluations, employing effective negotiation and purchasing strategies to guarantee quality, pricing, delivery, and service for designated projects.

Conducting research and proposing sources for New Product Development (NPD) and/or Resourcing Projects.
Overseeing and ensuring the timely launch of NPD and/or Resourcing Projects while meeting significant milestones.
Formulating and implementing recovery strategies.
Ensuring project completion within budgetary constraints and deadlines.
Collaborating with Engineering and Quality teams to confirm that products adhere to specifications.
Assisting the Supply Chain in managing inventory levels for optimal project outcomes.

Identifying, assessing, and recommending new suppliers while maintaining relationships with existing suppliers that deliver high-quality products and services at competitive prices, all while upholding the highest ethical standards.

Conducting evaluations of new supplier sites, assessing production capabilities, and participating in supplier certification audits.

Preparing and assessing requests for proposals (RFP) or requests for quotations (RFQ) and negotiating contracts to achieve optimal results for assigned projects.

Recommending and implementing LEAN methodologies to minimize waste in the sourcing development process.
Supporting logistics in meeting monthly and annual freight expenditure targets for assigned projects.
Other responsibilities as needed.

Occasional Functions include:
Generating reports as necessary for assigned projects.
Preparing and delivering presentations.
Travel may be required (approximately up to 10%).

LEADERSHIP DUTIES:
Assuming ownership of assigned projects within the sourcing function.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Operations, Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
A minimum of 5 years' experience in a sourcing management capacity within a distribution environment, preferably in a related sector.

Professional Skills and Training include:
Proven ability to interpret blueprints.
Familiarity with Six Sigma / LEAN or other problem-solving methodologies.
Experience in inventory management.
Proficiency in Microsoft software including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.

Certifications:
Project management training is advantageous.
ASCM or equivalent certification is a plus.
