As a key player in our organization, the Procurement Specialist will spearhead initiatives aimed at optimizing procurement processes across Performance Pipe, a division of Chevron Phillips Chemical. This role is crucial in driving cost efficiency and operational excellence within our procurement functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary liaison for procurement activities between Performance Pipe plants and the Plano office, identifying and leveraging savings opportunities through effective sourcing strategies.
  • Collaborate with project engineers to assess and fulfill project-specific procurement needs, ensuring timely vendor setup and compliance with safety documentation.
  • Evaluate supplier proposals for alignment with contractual obligations and project requirements.
  • Utilize procurement systems to monitor supplier performance and address nonconformances, implementing corrective actions to enhance future project outcomes.
  • Oversee the negotiation and execution of procurement contracts, maintaining oversight as the contract owner.
  • Work closely with all Performance Pipe locations to manage Approved Vendor Lists and conduct necessary supplier evaluations.
  • Engage with stakeholders and legal teams to facilitate contract development and implementation.
  • Identify and onboard new suppliers, ensuring compliance with documentation and working with Accounts Payable for smooth integration.
  • Promote sustainable and responsible sourcing practices through the Global Procurement Responsible Sourcing Program.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within procurement processes, recognizing opportunities for strategic contracts.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders to foster collaboration and problem-solving.
  • Conduct business reviews with suppliers to encourage ongoing improvement and performance excellence.
  • Manage procurement metrics and controls to ensure effective vendor relationship management.
  • Prepare Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and coordinate the bidding process as required.
  • Assist in resolving discrepancies related to invoices and purchase orders.
  • Collaborate across all organizational levels to enhance procurement processes and project outcomes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in manufacturing or commercial settings.
  • Strong commitment to safety and adherence to ethical practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Access, along with experience in SAP.
  • Demonstrated project management and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least three years of experience in a purchasing role utilizing SAP.
  • Experience in manufacturing and commercial environments.
  • Knowledge of business communications, contracting, and strategic sourcing.
  • Proven ability to manage supplier relationships effectively.
  • Strong track record of compliance with procurement policies.
