The Software Release Coordinator is accountable for guaranteeing the seamless and effective launch of software updates across cloud and mobile application platforms. This role necessitates close coordination and collaboration with various teams, including Development, DevOps, and Quality Assurance, to ensure that software releases are of the highest quality while minimizing risks and downtime.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work in conjunction with development teams and product stakeholders to strategize and schedule software releases, taking into account project timelines and business needs.
- Manage the release calendar (Forward Schedule of Change) and liaise with stakeholders to facilitate smooth deployments with minimal interruptions.
- Establish and uphold release protocols and best practices to ensure a consistent and efficient deployment pipeline.
- Supervise configuration management processes, ensuring that all components, environments, and dependencies are thoroughly documented and version-controlled.
- Facilitate change management procedures, validating proposed changes and assessing potential impacts prior to deployment.
- Continuously enhance automation scripts and workflows to optimize release efficiency.
- Conduct post-release evaluations and root cause analyses (5 whys) to identify areas for improvement and implement preventive measures.
- Design and execute strategies to utilize Canary Regions, enhancing the rollout of software releases while minimizing potential impacts on production environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in release management, deployment automation, and change management within a cloud-based setting.
- Familiarity with Canary Region deployment strategies and associated tools for managing gradual rollouts effectively.
- Extensive experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, CircleCI) and version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and mobile application deployment processes (iOS/Android).
- Proficient in scripting and automation (e.g., Bash, Python) to streamline deployment workflows.
- Knowledge of configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Puppet) and principles of infrastructure-as-code (IaC).
