Fire Safety Technician I

As a Fire Safety Technician I, you will be responsible for managing service requests from the Service Resource Center, which includes gathering essential details regarding equipment or system malfunctions. Your primary duty will be to engage with customer representatives to identify issues related to equipment and systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and execute repairs on electronic fire alarm systems and other associated building system products at client locations.
- Adhere to established troubleshooting protocols and consult technical manuals, part manuals, change notices, and other relevant documentation to facilitate repairs.
- Service, troubleshoot, and install various manufacturers' Fire & Life Safety systems, including SimplexGrinnell.
- Interpret blueprints, diagrams, specifications, software/systems, programs, schematics, and operational product manuals effectively.
- Demonstrate exceptional customer service skills by maintaining clear communication with district staff and clients to ensure satisfaction.
- Complete Service Acknowledgements accurately using communication devices such as smartphones and laptops.
- Secure customer signatures upon the completion of service assignments.
- Participate in a scheduled on-call rotation.
- Assist in training or mentoring fellow service team members.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 3 years of documented experience in low voltage electrical systems, including Fire/Life Safety systems, Access Control, Nurse Call, and Paging systems.
- A valid Fire Alarm License is required.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, submittals, and operational/product manuals.
- Familiarity with test equipment, multi-meters, digital analyzers, and commissioning devices.
- High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
- Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions accurately.
- Capable of performing physical tasks, including lifting and moving equipment and tools weighing up to 50-70 lbs.
- Willingness to work in various positions, including climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, as well as working in confined spaces.
- Flexibility to work hours that may include weekends to meet customer needs.
- Overnight travel may be necessary.
- A strong commitment to customer service is essential.
- Maintain truck inventory to ensure prompt responses to customer requirements.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures consistently.
- Strong organizational skills, a positive attitude, and a quick learning ability are crucial.
- Possession of a valid driver's license and a driving record that meets company standards.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug test.
- Retain any licenses required by National, State, and Local codes.
- Completion of SimplexGrinnell 4120 Network training within the first year of employment.
