Role Summary:

The Senior Battery Management Engineer will play a crucial role in the development of high-voltage battery management systems. This position involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams of hardware and software engineers to create groundbreaking battery technology.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Define requirements for various performance prediction algorithms.
  • Develop algorithms to assess the State of Energy (SOE) and State of Power (SOP) of battery packs.
  • Utilize MIL, SIL, PIL, and HIL techniques to validate models and algorithms at the battery pack level.
  • Ensure model parameters for tracking and prediction algorithms align with data collected during controlled cell testing.
  • Create test strategies, models, and algorithms to identify and resolve issues early in the design process.
  • Optimize algorithms to function within real-time computational constraints, including CPU cycles, memory, and power consumption.
  • Collaborate with the PMO organization to execute the build plan.
  • Travel domestically and internationally up to 10% as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field is required; a Master's degree or Ph.D. in Control Systems with a focus on battery modeling and gauging is preferred.

Candidates should possess a minimum of five years of experience in battery algorithm development, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience in developing battery prediction algorithms such as SOC, SOH, SOP, and SOE is essential, along with proficiency in creating battery cell models for system simulation.

Familiarity with advanced control techniques, including EKF, state observers, machine learning, and multi-parameter optimization, is required.

Proficiency in modeling tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, and associated optimization toolboxes is necessary, as well as programming skills in C and C++ for real-time applications.

Data analysis and scripting skills, preferably in Python, are important for processing large datasets.

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential, along with excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail.

Ability to prioritize and manage tasks independently within time constraints is crucial.


Additional Contributions:

Experience in the aviation sector, particularly with an understanding of DO-178C compliance for software development, is preferred.


Compensation:

The base pay for this position may vary based on skills, experience, and job-related knowledge. This role is also eligible for a bonus as part of the total compensation package.

The pay range for this position is: $180,100—$218,300 USD.
