ABOUT THE ROLE:


The Electrical Systems Design Engineer will play a pivotal role in the design and analysis of electrical systems for substation interconnect facilities, solar energy installations, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This position involves reviewing and refining commercial and utility plan sets for photovoltaic (PV) and BESS system deployments, as well as creating site survey sketches.

The selected candidate will collaborate closely with Engineers of Record (EOR), clients, and various engineering and design teams to ensure cohesive design packages and requirements. Additionally, this role will support the transition of designs to the field, ensuring successful project construction and energization.


Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and layout of system-level electrical (AC & DC) and communication systems.
- Demonstrate expertise in power distribution systems, including low, medium, and high voltage, as well as emergency generator and UPS systems.
- Engage in design development and optimization, ensuring effective construction and installation methodologies.
- Contribute to detailed design concepts for substations, solar, and BESS systems.
- Provide ongoing support for long-term design, optimization, and constructability.
- Develop and utilize electrical engineering calculation tools.
- Conduct independent engineering report writing and evaluations.
- Perform thorough QA/QC reviews of project designs.
- Conduct site visits to ensure construction aligns with engineering specifications.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in the field.
- Proficient in electrical system sizing and experienced in Utility and/or Commercial scale renewable EPC projects.
- Familiarity with utility-scale substation design is advantageous.
- A positive attitude and the ability to work autonomously are essential.
- Experience in utility-scale solar/PV projects is highly valued.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proven experience in the layout, specification, and development of utility-level substations.
- Advanced understanding of technical designs, engineering principles, and industry standards.
- Ability to apply engineering theories and principles effectively.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, AutoCAD 2D, and other relevant software tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Physical Demands:
- Frequent outdoor work on uneven surfaces; ability to travel up to 35%.

Work Environment:
- Primarily works in a climate-controlled environment, with fieldwork in varying weather conditions.
