Vehicle Testing Technician

POSITION SUMMARY: Multiple Openings Available
The Technician will assist senior engineers and technicians in evaluating vehicles and components, implementing configuration modifications, and executing repairs on vehicles and testing apparatus, while adhering to established engineering protocols, standards, and specifications. This position may also involve support in the assembly and fabrication of vehicles and associated systems/sub-systems. The primary goal is to validate innovative product designs during the new product development phase and address issues related to existing products. The Technician is expected to deliver exceptional technical assistance to clients and the Test and Development team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct evaluations of prototypes and existing products to assess the performance of vehicles/systems and compliance with specifications and/or regulations in collaboration with engineers and senior technicians.
- Test and document data utilizing knowledge of vehicle systems (electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic) through manual entry and data collection methods.
- Troubleshoot systems, perform basic failure analysis, and adhere to detailed testing protocols.
- Assemble, disassemble, and fabricate intricate/customized components, mechanical structures, and testing fixtures in conjunction with engineers and senior technicians.
- Ensure a safe working environment by following all safety protocols during job performance, which includes regular exposure to personal and physical hazards.
- Operate heavy machinery or drive vehicles as necessary for testing or material handling purposes.
- Select appropriate testing instruments for product evaluations.
- Organize and prioritize daily tasks to efficiently complete assignments and ensure project timelines are met.
- Communicate effectively and collaborate across functions to resolve technical challenges, including providing constructive feedback to all organizational levels.
- Interpret and execute written and verbal instructions accurately.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Technical Diploma with three (3) years of experience in engineering or equivalent experience.
Willingness to travel up to 50%.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate's degree with three (3) years of experience in engineering or equivalent experience.
Certified Welder (CW) (internal certification required for Commercial segment).
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
Familiarity with automotive and mechanical terminology.
A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or a Telehandler and AWP operator license.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, government regulations, and procedural manuals.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
