Position Overview We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Telecommunications Fiber Technician to contribute to our esteemed firm in the construction sector, known for delivering exceptional telecommunication infrastructure projects. This role requires a professional with a solid understanding of optical terminal enclosure (OTE), optical line terminal (OLT), Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM), and Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing (CWDM). The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work across various locations, providing an excellent opportunity for career growth and advancement. Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute fiber splicing, testing, and troubleshooting on a variety of fiber optic networks to ensure optimal performance.
  • Install, repair, and maintain OTE and OLT equipment, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
  • Utilize DWDM and CWDM technologies to enhance network capacity and efficiency.
  • Conduct regular inspections of fiber optic systems to promptly identify and resolve any issues.
  • Collaborate with the project team to efficiently plan and execute fiber optic projects.
  • Adhere to safety standards and procedures at all times.
  • Provide technical support and mentorship to junior team members.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate reports and documentation related to project progress and equipment status.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in fiber splicing, preferably within the construction industry.
  • Proficient knowledge of OTE, OLT, DWDM, and CWDM technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to splice, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic networks.
  • Strong understanding of fiber optic network design and installation.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to work in various locations and adapt to different work environments.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Proven track record of adhering to safety standards and procedures.
  • Relevant certification or training in fiber optic technology is a plus.
