Avail Infrastructure Solutions is seeking a skilled Electrical Systems Technician to join our team. As a key member of our field service team, you will be responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems at customer job sites and within our facility.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough electronic, mechanical, and electromechanical tests on electrical systems, sub-assemblies, and parts to ensure unit functions according to specifications or to determine cause of unit failure.
- Perform defined service tasks at direction of management at various off-site locations.
- Read and interpret test schedules, work orders, test manuals, performance specifications, wiring diagrams, and schematics to determine testing procedure and equipment to be used.
- Understand system and product documentation to perform specified functions at customers' sites in accordance with established procedures.
- Prepare daily reports, reports of findings, analysis, and solution, as well as travel/trip reports, including time sheets and expense reports, in a timely and efficient manner.
- Support and develop procedures for installation and troubleshooting.
- Create and edit documents and procedures.
- Troubleshoot and utilize instrumentation, documentation, knowledge, and experience to identify issues and determine corrective action to fix equipment and systems.
- Test functional performance of systems, sub-assemblies, and parts under specified test procedures.
- Calibrate test instruments according to specifications.
- Connect units to be tested to test equipment, such as motor generators, multimeters, or current injectors.
- Read dials or digital displays indicating electronic characteristics, such as voltage, frequency, distortion, inductance, and capacitance.
- Compare results with specifications and record test data.
- Analyze test results on defective units to determine cause of failure.
- Replace defective wiring and components or record defects and return unit to production department for repair.
- Confer with engineers, technicians, production personnel, and others regarding testing procedures and results and to resolve problems.
- Test equipment setup to evaluate performance and operation of non-standard or customer returned units, by servicing and repairing equipment.
- Ability to lead projects, instruct, and direct workers.
- Train shop personnel.
- Assist with quality management system (QMS) procedures.
- Travel to customer sites for startups, troubleshooting, or to train on switchgear and operations of equipment.
- Sources additional opportunities for service-related functions while on customer sites.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 2-4 years of experience, preferably in electro-mechanical field as a field service technician.
- Prior supervisory-level experience or experience coordinating construction jobs strongly preferred.
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong reading, writing, and communication skills.
- Good mathematical skills.
- 50-75% overnight travel; occasional extended-stay travel.
