Primary Services is pleased to introduce the position of Demurrage Analyst for our client in the energy and logistics sector. This role is pivotal for the accurate, timely processing of marine demurrage claims, significantly contributing to the financial management of a large-scale organization. The position provides a chance to collaborate with various stakeholders across multiple departments, offering essential support and knowledge in managing demurrage-related tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor ongoing and completed vessel operations and calculate the associated demurrage estimates.
  • Evaluate, negotiate, and process demurrage claims from vessel/barge owners or counterparties; verify and process invoices upon mutual agreement.
  • Identify, calculate, claim, negotiate, and finalize demurrage amounts to be rebilled to commercial partners and terminals according to contracts.
  • Track pending demurrage claims and ensure prompt resolutions, including regular reconciliations with external parties.
  • Follow up on payments for demurrage invoices issued for rebills.
  • Maintain and update demurrage data in information systems, including DMS and SAP, ensuring precise month-end accruals.
  • Document demurrage reasons in DMS and ensure proper organization for future reference.
  • Report on demurrage activities through KPIs and provide comprehensive analysis as needed.
  • Deliver proactive assistance to trading, operations, and chartering teams on demurrage issues, including training and insights from previous cases.
  • Maintain a database of general terms and conditions affecting demurrage and suggest modifications to the company's chartering policies.
  • Provide backup support on specific tasks to ensure uninterrupted service delivery.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a U.S. Maritime Academy preferred, or Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration.
  • Three years of relevant experience in a marine or commercial setting requiring strong analytical capabilities.
  • Familiarity with SAP.
  • Understanding of import/export regulations, Incoterms, and commercial demurrage processes is advantageous.
