GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING SPECIALIST

Navarro & Wright Consulting Engineers, Inc. is seeking a motivated individual for the role of Geotechnical Engineering Specialist. This entry-level position offers the opportunity to apply your expertise in various engineering projects. The selected candidate will engage in soil and rock drilling, sampling, well monitoring, and report drafting, serving as a vital link between the firm and its clients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Quickly learn and utilize the Company’s filing system within the initial week of employment.
  • Execute geotechnical engineering tasks as instructed.
  • Participate in company meetings as required.
  • Organize and maintain both physical and digital documentation.
  • Communicate with clients and staff as needed.
  • Exhibit professionalism in interactions with colleagues, clients, and the public.
  • Aim for continuous improvement in performance and understanding of geotechnical engineering standards.
  • Conduct drilling inspections for various governmental and private sector projects as requested.
  • Review and amend typed logs, boring profiles, and related documentation.
  • Perform site evaluations to identify geotechnical concerns and gather geological data.
  • Assist in verifying quantities and invoices from drilling contractors.
  • Draft and assess Geotechnical Engineering Reports for roadways and structures, including Foundation Reports for bridges and retaining walls, along with necessary calculations and Slope Stability assessments.
  • Ensure accuracy of field and typed boring logs and profiles in compliance with specifications.
  • Develop Laboratory Testing Plans and analyze results for soil and rock samples.
  • Evaluate solicitations from drilling contractors and statewide contracts.
  • Establish criteria and specifications for subsurface investigations.
  • Prepare and review Slope Stability studies.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and effective communication, both written and verbal.
  • Collaborate within a team environment and provide mentorship to junior geotechnical staff.
  • Occasionally travel to project locations.
  • Independently manage tasks, organize information, and deliver results promptly.
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals, including technical scopes of work and cost estimates.
  • Engage with clients, attend project meetings, and foster strong client relationships.
  • Adhere to established timelines and budgets for each project.
QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Associate's or technical degree is preferred.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Certification as a PennDOT-approved Drilling Inspector is necessary.
  • Familiarity with Lpile, GSTABL, Driven, and GRLWEAP software programs is advantageous.
