GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING CONSULTANT

Navarro & Wright Consulting Engineers, Inc. is seeking a motivated individual for the role of Geotechnical Engineering Consultant. This entry-level position involves applying technical knowledge and skills across a variety of projects. The selected candidate will engage in soil and rock drilling and sampling, monitor groundwater wells, prepare reports, and serve as a key point of contact between the firm and its clients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Quickly familiarize yourself with the Company and/or TD filing system within your initial week of employment.
  • Execute geotechnical engineering tasks as directed, adhering to instructions.
  • Participate in Company and/or TD meetings as required.
  • Organize and maintain both physical and digital office documentation.
  • Communicate with clients and staff as needed.
  • Exhibit professionalism in interactions with colleagues, clients, and the public.
  • Aim for continuous improvement in performance and deepen your understanding of geotechnical engineering standards and practices.
  • Conduct drilling inspections for various governmental and private projects upon request.
  • Review and amend typed logs, boring profiles, and drafted documents for accuracy.
  • Carry out site assessments for geotechnical concerns and geological data as necessary.
  • Assist in validating drilling contractor quantities and invoices.
  • Draft and review Geotechnical Engineering Reports for infrastructure projects, including roadways and structures, as well as Foundation Reports for bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and ITS structures, along with associated calculations and Slope Stability reports.
  • Ensure the accuracy of field and typed boring logs and profiles in compliance with specifications.
  • Develop Laboratory Testing Plans and assess laboratory testing outcomes for soil and rock.
  • Evaluate Drilling Contractor proposals and statewide contracts.
  • Establish criteria and specifications for subsurface investigations.
  • Prepare and assess Slope Stability studies.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and effective communication, both verbally and in writing.
  • Collaborate within a team environment and mentor junior geotechnical staff.
  • Occasionally travel to project locations.
  • Work independently, organize information, and deliver results efficiently.
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals, including technical scopes of services and cost estimates.
  • Engage with clients, attend project meetings, and foster strong client relationships.
  • Adhere to established timelines and budgets for each project.
QUALIFICATIONS

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Associate's or technical degree is preferred.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Certification as a PennDOT-approved Drilling Inspector is necessary.
  • Familiarity with Lpile, GSTABL, Driven, and GRLWEAP software programs is advantageous.
